Otomi embroidery is an embroidery style created by the Indigenous Otomi People of different communities from Hidalgo, Mexico. Each tenango is a unique piece of hand-embroidered art that could take months to complete. Tenangos are embroidered on white cotton. The artisan freely traces drawings representing their environment and their region’s flowers, trees, animals, and landscapes. Ancient symbols are represented in their art, and no two pieces are alike. They are truly one of a kind.
